NICOLE'S CAT

My cat calvin runs around the house with a sock in his mouth and growls, brushes himself, turns on the faucet and takes a bath.  He also likes to play Disney uno with my little brother.

NIKKI'S CAT

Hello. I'm Nikki and I learned that my cat, Tubby, will put his paws on your shoulders and rub his head against your's if you stand where he can reach you and if you tap on your shoulders. I'm sorry, I don't have a picture of this. Does he win for his talent?

JESSICA'S CAT

I don't know if this qualifies as much of a trick or not, but my cat, Tabby, has been doing it for awhile now.  Whenever I open a bottle of soda or anything, I need to hide the cap because if I turn my back for a second she takes off with it and I won't see it for a day.  Then I need to make sure I check my shoes because that is where it ends up. I recently wanted to show off what she does to see if anyone had seen anything like it, so I took an assortment of bottle caps, put them on the floor and just watched.  She took all of them eventually and put them in my shoes, then pushed them up to the toe with her paw.  She seemed to really like the caps that came from the Sprecher Root Beer, the hard caps versus the plastic ones. She is a very playful and happy cat, she's a basic short hair, a Tabby cat, but she is unique in her ways.  She always runs around until she sees a bug, then she stands up on her hind legs and starts trying to reach up while crying.  That's how I know if a pesky moth got in the house, or some creepy spider. I wish I had a scanner to enclose a picture, but since I don't, I hope my description is good enough.  I hope you have enjoyed hearing about Tabby and her fun loving nature.  Jessica Hubbard

SILLY CAT

For some reason my cat will not drink out of her normal water dish . She chooses to drink the yukky plant clipping water I use to start new houseplants in.

GARY'S CAT

Suzie, the Manx cat, can open the bedroom door. She jumps up and holds on until she gets her right paw on the handle then she drops down and it opens! The other cats don't show any interest in this technique.  Gary McMullen

MELISSA'S CAT

My young cat Tiger has lots of little modest talents...The first thing I taught him to do was understand "Tiger... where's your mouse?  Where IS it?"  Every time I say it, he perks up and looks at me with the biggest eyes - unfortunately he plays so wildly with his mouse that it usually ends up under the refrigerator or furniture... or in his water bowl.  I've actually seen him carry those things and place them in the water!I also taught him to understand "outside?"  He runs to the door, and gets up on a chair next to it, where he can reach the doorknob.  If I don't get there fast enough, he simply reaches up and shows me what I need to do by trying to turn the knob with his paws.  And if you leave a door cracked, he doesn't just push on it and stick his paw through like my other cats... he gets a running start, sometimes actually leaping at the door and banging it open with both front paws.  If he's across the street, I can go out onto my driveway and make a kissing sound - he runs right over (Two of my other cats respond to whistles).  If HE is on the driveway, and I am across the street, he'll wait a while, then come get me with a loud "MEOW" saying "I'm ready to go inside now!!"  He has to take heart pills and aspirin because he has a heart disease... most cats are a struggle to give pills to, but my little guy runs into the kitchen and meows impatiently when he hears the pill bottle shaking!!  But the cutest thing he does now is to jump up like a dog, placing his front paws on our legs (mine and my husband's) to let us know he wants attention.  He'll sometimes scratch a little, but ONLY on certain materials such as bluejeans and thicker materials... as if he knows he can hurt us.  Right now he's in my lap while I type... if I print something he'll go watch the printer very intently.  He's licking my arm... and purring... oh, yes, time for attention!!  If I don't pay attention fast he'll headbutt me with that cold little nose... but right now he's laying ON my arm with his paw on my hand.  I'd better go!!!  Before I do, I'll attach a picture of him weighing himself.  Melissa
P.S.  I forgot about one of his attention-getters... he just bit my thumb.  Gently though. I LOVE HIM!

JULIE'S CAT

My name is Julie, and Abby, my cat, and I are from Missouri. Abby is a year old and is grey and white with a little bit of orange in her--she is beautiful. Abby  is an exceptional cat. She comes when called, will sit, stay, and "give you some paw"--in other words, shake your hand. But she does it in a cat sort of way. She lays on her side and lifts her paw up and puts it into your hand. She also gives kisses, and she loves to watch TV. She likes to be held like a baby, too. In fact, once in a while she falls asleep in my arms that way. Everyone who knows Abby loves her and she loves them back. But, the one thing that she does that puts everyone in stitches is when she plays "This Little Kitty", which is similar to "This Little Piggy". She rolls on her back with her paws up in the air and I take her back paw and say, "This little kitty went to market, this little kitty stayed home, this little kitty ate a mouse, but this little kitty didn't get one, and this little kitty went meow, meow, meow, meow all the way home. Every time I say "this little kitty" I touch one of the pads on her paw and then when I say "meow, meow, meow, meow all the way home" I tickle her tummy all the way up and touch her nose, where she then takes her front paws and grabs my hand and licks it. It is hilarious. This picture is one of her as a baby.

Special Opportunity for Your Talented Cat

Looking For Talented Animals!

Is your pet a star?  Would you like a chance at $3,000?

Animal Planet is looking for pets with unique talents.  All animals are eligible.  If youıve got a dog that jumps rope, a pig that dances, or a bird that roller skates, send us a tape!

If selected, weıll fly you to Hollywood where you and your pet will appear on Animal Planet and compete for $3,000.  All you need is a video camera (VHS is preferred, but anything will do), someone to run it, and one undisturbed hour.  Follow these steps and your pet and you could be headed to Hollywood!

1) Find a well-lit, quiet room.  The light should come from behind the camera.  Make sure the batteries are charged, turn off the TV and stereo, get the kids and neighbors out of there, and create a relaxing atmosphere for you and your pet to perform.

2) Once the cameraıs rolling, take a breath, look into the camera, and tell us about yourself.  Say: "Hello, my name is_____, my telephone numbers are____, and I live in_____ where I work as a____."  Tell us about yourself -- work, hobbies, family, etc.  We want to see how you come across, but itıs supposed to be fun, so breath, smile, relax and donıt worry if you mess up
a word or leave out a minor detail.

3) Introduce your pet.  Give their name, breed, talent, and anything special about them.

4) Have them perform their talent three times in a row.  Make sure youıre getting a good, clear shot of your pet.  You may want to shoot it from different angles and distances.  We assume that how it looks on tape is how itıs going to look on TV, so donıt send us a mediocre version and say: "He usually does it better."

5) Finally, send it to:
     Eulunda Gray
     P.O. Box 2904
     Toluca Lake, CA 91610-0904

Send the tape to us right away.  Donıt let someone win $3,000 doing your trick!  Weıre always looking for tapes, so itıs never too late, but your best bet is to send it today.

Hopefully weıll be contacting you soon with your travel arrangements to Hollywood!

Good luck!
