MELISSA'S CAT

My cat Teddy Bear has always loved to be the center of attention.  I showed him in a cat show at the pet expo in 2002, and he was the only cat that was comfortable in the atmosphere.  I had him out of the cage sitting on my lap on his back the whole show.  Everyone asked me what was wrong with him, cuz he was'nt trying to get away.  He just loved everyone looking at him, nor was he ashamed to sit up and give me kisses on the lips every few minutes to show how much he loves me.  He won 1st place!  In that picture he is over at my best friend Jimme's house.  Jimme is in the music industry and is a DJ/producer.  He spins a style of techno music that is called Jungle/Drum and Bass.  It is my favorite kind of music and Teddy loves it too.  Whenever we visit Jimme, Teddy is always watching Jimme work his magic on the turntables.  After a while of watching, Teddy is now pressing buttons to figure out how Jimme does it.  Teddy is still learning, but you never know, with practice this kitty just might be known worldwide!  He would love that!  Melissa Music

LAURA MARSH'S CAT

My cat Kramer is a beautiful 15-pound tabby who dances.  He taught me this trick years ago.  It began when he would sit on the back of the toilet waiting for me to get out of the shower.  When I'd step out he would meow until I pet him.  Not wanting to get his lovely fur coat wet, I would just tickle his nose with my fingers.  One day as I pet him in this manner, he rose up high on his hind legs and shifted around in a circle to keep his balance.  He looked like a striped ballerina doing a pirouette.  Thereafter, I would tickle his little nose & say, "Kramer, do your dance," and he would dance every time.  He still does it daily.  He is both charming and talented.  All hail King Kramer!  Kramer's Human, Laura

I have a kitten who is almost 1 year old and his name is Mikey.  Ever since the first time he has been outside he LOVES it and will do anything to go out there. This is a story that will show you that I am not kidding.
One night it was about 9:00 and he came in to have something to eat. He didn't know that I was going to keep him in for the rest of the night. When he walked over to the sliding screen door he found out it was closed. He started to do his high pitch anoying meow for about three times. When he stopped I wondered what he was doing because he usually does it a lot more. He was on the other side of the room facing the sliding door. All of a sudden he comes running, top speed, straight towards the door. He jumped up and knocked the whole thing over! (The door is still broken) He then ran outside and didn't come back till about 6 in the morning. If only I had it on tape.

KRISTINA'S CATS

I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with two felines with talents...  The first is Aloysius (nick-named Pookie) who was a beautiful Seal Point Himalayan.  The second is a buff/white alley cat named Boo Radley.  Unfortunately both have passed on...
Pookie had a stuffed animal (a little witch called Witchie) that he would carry around.  He cried when he carried her.  When he would be "done" with playing with her, I would put her somewhere in the house like on top of the piano or a table.  Pookie never approved of Witchie being higher than he was!  He absolutely would have to knock her down!
Another of Pookie's antics involved his being bathed and dried.  After a bath, Pookie would let me towel dry him and then he would jump on top of the commode for me to blow dry him.  He would actually slowly spin around to I could dry him evenly!  I would almost swear the commode lid was like a lazy-Susan!
Pookie was also known to play catch.  If my Mother and I would toss one of his toys back and forth he would sit in the middle to intercept.  Then he would bring the toy to one of us as if to say "More, please".
Pookie's greatest accomplishment was to turn on the faucet in either the sink or the tub.  He loved to drink from both and there was many a times my water bill suffered from his ability because he either never mastered turning it off or just did not care how much it cost!
Boo had three little tricks he liked to perform.  His first was diving under the rugs in the kitchen.  He would run at full-speed and throw himself under the rug.  His little head would poke out the other side with the little fringe hanging on his face.  He resembled a nun!
Another of Boo's tricks was to get me to retrieve his fuzzy toy mousers.  He would accomplish this by meowing loudly at the yardstick.  Once I grabbed the yardstick he KNEW that we would be getting his mousers out from under the stove, fridge or washer and dryer!  Sometimes he would immediately bat them under again just to watch me fish them back out.  Occasionally I would pull out the yardstick and he would run to the stove and press his little face down waiting for his mouser to emerge!
Boo's third trick was that he could actually catch food you tossed at him.  I would sit about 5 yards from him and toss pieces from his food bowl and he would jump and and catch them in his mouth.  It only took a couple of sessions to teach him how to do that and it was very amusing to watch.  Submitted by Kristina - owned by Scout the Siamese.

ANNE'S CATS

I have two seal point Siamese brothers. Bad idea. One smart and energetic Siamese is enough, but I have two that, I swear, egg each other on.
The older of the two, the Baron von Chaos, learned to open doors just so he could shred toilet paper. As a kitten, he'd destroy any and all toilet paper he found in the bathroom. I'd find it shredded all over the bathroom floor. So I started storing it in my kitchen pantry. He learned to open the door (which swings out, by the way) by getting on his hind legs and pulling on the knob with his paws, all while leaning back to pull the door open. I started putting a chair against the door. He learned to move the chair. Now the toilet paper is stored in a latched cabinet over the stove.
The younger brother, Henry Wallace Underfoot, plays fetch with these little plastic balls. He'll usually only fetch it back 2 or 3 times before his brother gets involved and it becomes a wrestling match. His favorite time to play is late at night. He'll bring ball after ball into our bedroom, and drop them in the bed until you wake up and toss them. He's also done this with live mice. That does not go over so well.
Both ride well in cars. Henry LOVES McDonald's chicken McNuggets. We usually stop to get him some every trip (and they go everywhere with us). Problem is, whenever we pull into anything resembling a drive-through window, like a toll booth, he gets all excited. He's scared a few toll booth attendants before by jumping up to the car's window and howling at them, demanding his nuggets. Henry also will eat just about anything. He'll tip over beer bottles so he can drink it, and he once even ate toothpaste!!!
They have their own webpage : http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze3tcn3/  Thanks!  Anne Gorham

MARY'S CATS

My cat Gingiss will roll over on command, and he will do it repeatedly. He also barks at birds and he will shine your shoes. He also likes to dig the carpet like he's digging a hole. I know this sounds like a dog and I think he thinks he's a dog, but he is a cat.  Mary Smith  (See picture under Black and White Cats)

MAGGIE'S MOTHER-IN-LAW'S CAT

One of my mother in-law's cats, named Harley Davidson, LOVES to play with potatoes.  He will go to the potato basket and pick out one he likes and wrestle with it and/or carry it around the house. We find potatoes everywhere ...behind doors, under the couch, in the bath tub, anywhere..... I wish my scanner was working so I could send a picture of him hugging one of his potatoes.  What a silly boy.   Maggie
