NIKKI'S CATS

I have two cats. Their names are Sqeakers and Tubby. Guess why Tubby has his name... he's SOOO fat. It makes him cute. Sqeakers, I don't know... let's just say it suits her. Tell me if I win. My name is Nikki.

MICHELLE'S CAT

Once, while grocery shopping, I heard a loud and persistent "MEEEEEEEW" in the parking lot and followed it to the cutest grey tabby, the last in a litter of free kittens left alone in a shopping cart. I took him home where he immediately commenced shreading through the house, devouring anything edible and tearing after toys and other cats and even after his own tail! So I named him Taz, after the Tazmanian Devil... Michelle Lyon
P.S.  Thank you for the award!  Unfortunately, Taz's story has a sad ending, as he tazzed across the street and was hit by a car, at the tender age of six months. Poor little devil. I feel his acceptance on your site honors his love for life and play. Thank you so much!

LISA'S CAT

My sister-in-law has three cats, but the name of one of her cats is Noseeme.  I have never seen her because she is always hiding. I think this may be deserving your cat award.  My sister-in-law is Lisa Sauberan in Gainesville, Florida.  Thanks, Carla Sauberan

KRISTY'S CATS

All my life we have given all our cats funny or interesting names.  For awhile, we had three Burmese cats all named after drinks...Sanka, Tang, and Pepsi.  Recently, my 15-year-old Seal-point Siamese passed away.  Her name was Yo-Yo.  I named her this when I was 5, as I was watching my father and her get into a disagreement.  This situation was that the kitten insisted on sitting on my dad's lap, he insisted that she go somewhere else.  After what
seemed like 30-40 minutes of the kitten jumping on his lamp, and my dad setting her down, I piped up and said, "Daddy, the kitty is just like a yo-yo!"  Hence where my beautiful baby got her name.  I will always love and cherish her.
Now, I am owned by a six-month-old red mackeral tabby--which I got when he was 2 months old.  When I first got him, he was nameless for a week.  This cat is a mystery...he is wild and crazy--almost mean--one second, and sweet, innocent, and lovey the next.  Other times, he is almost heroic, attacking me when I scold my step-son for doing something wrong...and others, a nightmare...attacking the kid in the middle of the night(which thankfully has stopped--poor kid)!  After watching the Japanese anime, Trigun, the lead character's name is Vash the Stampede.  This guy, Vash, was a sweet romantic, kindof a dufus hero...yet, he always caused pain and destruction whereever he went.  The name fit, so I started calling the little guy "Vash."  He took to his name instantly, and now that he's older, he is fitting into his name even more--especially "the Stampede" part--he
drags anything and everything out to play with.  His nickname is also "Monkey-Cat," because when he gets REALLY hyper, he jumps up, arches his back, and starts hopping sideways, while trying to attack his toys, kinda like a monkey (my step-son noticed this observation and was the first to dub the name)...his hyperness gets even worse when we call him it...he is a riot!  He also has many more nicknames, like "Cat-icula" like Dracula, to
name one more...mainly he has this title for his late night attacks on my feet and head...I don't think I'll ever get rid of the scar on my right toe.....
...Well, that's it for now!  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share the story behind my kitties' names....Kristy Wise

DIANE'S CAT

My son and I were in the process of sweeping water away from our back door in order to prevent our house from being flooded during a torrential summer downpour, when my son spotted a tiny black and white kitten wading across our horses' paddock toward us. We discovered that his mouth was badly injured, and it later transpired that he must have travelled from a local farm under the bonnet of a neighbour's car, putting his nose into the fan on the journey. However, he was not in the least bit troubled by his injuries, which healed  with no problem, and immediately proceeded to begin eating us out of house and home, gaining him the title of Greedy Muldoon. As he grew and put on weight he became Fatty Muldoon. This then bacame Spotty Muldoon, which is what his name has remained ever since. He is a wonderful cat and not satisfied with just eating us out of house and home, he also stole all our hearts. He loves nothing better than to sit on the backs of our horses.  Diane Moore

BONNIE'S CAT

Bonnie has a cat named Sweet Nipples. He is a blonde cat, solid California blonde, with the most gorgeous blue eyes in the world. He made us think of blonde surfers, most of them go topless at the beach, plus he is a total ladies' man and loves all over our female friends when we get together. And so the name evolved.

NADIA'S CAT

funny sausage

I am writing to you to let you know about my very special cat. He is the world's most greatest cat. His name is Salchicas "Sausage" Chewbacca Aguilar.  He is a fluffball tabby and requires maximum attention. I named him Salchichas 'cause he looks like a sausage, weighs 20.63lbs and loves to eat. His middle name is Chewbacca because when he meows he sounds like the Chewbacca from Star Wars and he follows me around, always protecting me like Chewbacca did with Princess Leia. Salchicas is a long name so for short he is called the Cheen, Cheznerz, Chichas, or Chuy. He responds to all of them.  Nadia Aguilar

JEFF'S CAT

My sister has just gotten a kitten & was asking for help with a name & that's how I got to know your site, but enough about me, I'm writing about my cat.
My last name is Girardo, and I think the coolest tough-guy name/best buddy name out there is Vinnie.  I didn't want to saddle my son with this name so I told myself my next cat would get this name. I drove all over San Diego looking for a cat that "fit" this name, and I found him---a silky black Bombay.  He has this aura --that he is the king of all he sees, and he has no fear of humans or dogs for that matter.  Vinnie seemed too "common" for him, so his true name is Vincenzo.  When I take him to the vet and they call out his name, I've had other cat owners go "ooooh....that's a good name".  He has a purple collar, purple leash (yes he likes walking with a leash), and purple ID tags as befitting royalty.  He was raised with dogs and he thinks he is one.  He likes having his tail pulled, enjoys being patted hard on the back, and just loves playing rough...if I could clone him I'd make millions.  Even dog owners/cat haters have told me, "I like your cat."  When he was at the shelter he was the only kitten that wasn't meowing, like he didn't need to.  As the Pound rep pulled him out of the cage she said, "I need to tell you something, he has a birth defect...........his tail has been broken and is now fused in four places."  The first words out of my mouth were, "That's even better, what else is broken?"   Whenever I travel, my cat-less friends and even my exes fight over who gets to keep him while I'm gone. That's the truest test of a great cat.

SUE'S CAT

A few years ago, we had adopted a stray from the harshness of the coming winter. She was a sweet marmalade tabby who talked incessantly the first week we had her, so we named her Loquacious. When we shortened it to Loki, she stopped talking and started to find ways to get into mischief. Guess she knew her name all along!   Sue O'Shields

SAM'S CAT

My cat's name is Sugar Foot and I named him when I was 5, he's about 10 now.  I'm not really sure what I was going for, but it fits him because he's the sweetest cat (sugar) but he's always on the go, he's always outdoors and it's hard to find him (foot). But I've never met anyone or heard of anyone with a cat named Sugarfoot. His feet are also white.

CINDY'S CAT

This cat has known me from the instant of birth because I helped his momma birth him. (I literally helped 'pull' him from her as she definitely wasn't sure what to do herself.)  He is jet black with a tiny spot of white on his chest and a few occasional sprinkles of single white hairs scattered on his front legs. (I would swear that he was jet black at birth and the white hair was caused by my 4 year old.)  Either way, he now comes to the grand total of 18 lbs. He is also now 5 years old as of tomorrow. (His birthdate and name are my email.)
We decided on his 'real' name by accident.  When he was about 6 weeks old, my children painted a garden stone for me. Bright fluorescent blue is the color they chose.  When they presented it to me, our kitten acted strangely. He was afraid of this stone for some reason.
We experimented with him for a few minutes by holding him right above the stone and gently 'dropping' him onto it.  He never actually hit the stone! He did some kind of 'pogo stick' jump with a little acrobatics thrown in and would land several feet from the stone. He was scared of it for quite some time after all this went on.
Then and there we knew he was a 'wampuss cat'.  Wampuss cat stories are pretty common in the area that I live in. Old-timers would talk about the black panthers that roamed my area at the turn of the century and sometimes a little folklore is thrown in.  In folklore, a wampuss is some type of mystical cat creature that is usually blamed for a lot of things that went bad on the homesteads.
Either way our Wampuss is a very dear creature to me. We understand each other. I can walk into a room where he's at and 'purr' to him and he just preens and struts.  I am obviously very proud of my big boy.  Cindy Bloodworth, Sebree, KY

JESSI'S CAT

I received my cat as a Valentine's Day gift almost 8 years ago. She is gray with white markings, a perfect pink nose, and the biggest green eyes I've ever seen on a cat. I could not come up with a name for her. It took nearly 4 months to do it. But finally, I found the perfect name. Her name! I was watching the movie Nell, with Jodie Foster. She looks at the doctor (who is crying) and because of their speech barriers she is having a hard time consoling her. So, finally, she says, "Don't cay Miss Chickapea." And that was it. Miss Chickapea is my cat's name. She tries to console me when I am sad, and cheer me, too. She, like Nell, overcame our language differences and always finds ways to talk to me. Thanks for your time, Jessi & Ms. Chickapea (Chicky)

LINDA'S CAT

Hi, I found your web sight while surfing to try and find out information about Tabby cats.  I have had a litter of kittens and all were males except one.  Three tabbies and two black cats that if you look closely, you can see those wonderful tabby stripes on the black ones.  One of the kittens, a black one, was killed by we do not know who.  Most likely by my male cat that runs the house.  The four that survived are healthy and beautiful.  The little black tabby that stayed with us is named Eight Ball because of the white spot under his head on his neck.  We felt this was a name that suited him.  Just wanted to share. Wish I had a working camera to share a picture.  Thank you for having a great web sight.  Linda Spaulding, Macon, Georgia

JENNIFER'S CAT

My cat is 11 years old. He is a tiger tabby with a pair of magnificent knee length white Boots on the back legs. The front paws have dainty white mittens. Boots weighs 23 pounds.  The name Boots Wellington is a pun for the white boots and Wellington because Wellingtons are what Boots are called in the United Kingdom!  Thanks, Jennifer and Boots Wellington

LYNDSEY'S CAT

A few years back I was pregnant and tired and fat and emotional.  I had just moved into a new house and as soon as I got settled I noticed a beautiful (and nervous) black cat who always seemed to be at my door.  He looked like he was someone's pet because he was perfectly fat and groomed, but he never would to go home.  When winter came I had to let him in.  We instantly became soulmates and he made my difficult pregnancy so much easier.  So I would joke that he had been my savior.  The description suited him perfectly though so I gave him his official title:  Twinkle-Christ Messiah-Cat.  I call him Twinkle for
short but he saves me every day.  Thanks!  Lyndsey DeTal
