Our original cat watercolors
and other cat paintings have been carefully reproduced with
traditional offset lithography by printing with permanent inks onto
highest quality, archival paper with a soft finish (not glossy poster
stock). Each cat print is hand signed and dated with the
copyright date by the artist. This traditional method of
printing is extremely involved, requiring professional photography of the
artwork to produce what is called a transparency, separating the
colors of the image (four colors plus black), several stages
of proofs (with the artist working with the printers),
developing large zinc plates containing the individual colors,
running each separately through giant
presses, printing each color over another, and fine
tuning the colors with a complex control panel, until we make the
final prints as close as we can to the
originals. The outside dimensions of
each print correspond to standard frame sizes.
The prints resulting from this
process may also be pressed onto canvas, where they take on the warmth and
quality of an original oil painting. A photographer, who specializes in
this sensitive technique, impresses the art print onto the surface of
a treated canvas. When appropriate (such as when the
original was an acrylic or oil painting), the images may be further
enhanced by hand-application of brush strokes, so the brush technique of
the artist is visible, resulting in a work of art that looks as though it
had come straight from the master's hand. The treatment results
in a deep richness of color. Paintings that were originally
watercolors are pressed onto a finer grade canvas to retain the delicate
watercolor quality. All canvas impressions are finished with a
coating of a UV-protective varnish. The canvas is stretched and
ready for framing. private

Your URL Not many peple know how the
famous artists of the past received the inspiration for their
paintings. You are about
to discover an intriguing and amusing story behind each of the
famous artists' cats pictures--explaining the hypothetical influence of
the cats on the work of the artists. This outrageous story is
printed in the lower left corner of the lithograph, just below the
image. Canvas impressions do not have a border, so this paragraph is
attached to the back of the canvas. Only archival materials
are used throughout the production of the photolithographs and canvas
transfers. The inks, papers, and
canvases do not contain acid, which would destroy a work of art over
the years. The inks employed to print photolithographs are not
subject to the fading that is experienced with the dyes used to produce
the more expensive Gicles. Archival means that the quality of the
materials is the best available, and the final product will be resistant
to fading and environmental deterioration. These are the materials
used by museums. With proper care, your new cat art should last
"forever." It is recommended that a
mat be used to separate the print from the glass, since glass contains
acid and would eventually deteriorate the picture. Also, be sure an
acid-free backing (such as foam core) is used behind the print.
Whatever you do, don't use cardboard for this purpose. "I was very
impressed with the reproduction quality. The prints arrived on
Tuesday, but I didn't manage to see them in daylight until yesterday. I
can only compliment your printers. Please allow
at least two weeks for preparation and shipping of the canvas
transfers. The cat prints on the archival paper are ready for
immediate shipping. International shipping available for reasonable
rates and fast delivery times (see Check Out
section).

The colours are wonderful and the
pictures every bit as good as I could hope for. I gave your email
and web address to the frame shop, because the guy there was very
impressed and we spent about an hour discussing the best mounts and
frames." Barry G. Freeman, Professional Photographer, bazz@foxx.demon.co.uk
