Cat art parody cat prints of
Miro's Cat Encircled
by the Flight of a Bird

See my original painting that interprets how Miro might have painted his own cat!

If Miro had had a cat, how do you think he would have painted it?  I borrowed from Miro's techniques and created an original scene featuring a cat.  Using Miro's famous style, I painted my interpretation of how he would have portrayed his own cat :-)

Cat art parody cat prints of Joan Miro's frustrated cat trying to catch an elusive bird.  This cat print is from the Famous Artists' Cats series and captures the qualities of Miro's paintings using a cat as an irresistible subject in a futile endeavor.

Miro's Cat

Joan Miro's cat had been trying for some time to catch a little red bird that
enjoyed flying tauntingly around her.  Miro painted the cat standing on her
hind legs, reaching out to try to snare the pesky little bird that always
managed to move just a little faster than she could.

(This story is printed in the lower left corner, just below the image. It is laminated separately with the canvas transfers.)
(printed from original watercolor on paper)

"Received Miro's Cat yesterday - great print!  I'm rushing to the framer's today!  I can't wait to see it hanging on the wall.  I hope you don't mind, but it will be hanging in my guest bathroom.  Everything is black, white and gray/silver geometric patterns, so this is perfect and the splash of color is great.  I think the cat theme is great, too, as we have 3 kitty babies of our own.  My husband, a more linear sort, doesn't see the cat and bird, but I will keep working on him!!!  Marcia J. Hein, CPA"

"Wow! What a wonderful site you have here!  Sure did enjoy my visit!  I have bookmarked your site and will be back again Very Soon! Meows&Purrs!!  Runtell at Runtell...The Amazing Little Cat! "

Miro's cat art parody cat print was painted in transparent watercolors on paper.  The simple primary colors--red, yellow, and blue, with green and black--were Miro's favorite palatte.  The picture has been "aged" with a faint swirl of color floating through the background.

The energetic little kitty can be seen reaching up in the air to catch the little red bird that zooms around her.  It is here.  It is there.  It is everywhere at once.  The painting is filled with light-heartedness with the dancing symbols loved by Miro.  Throughout the scene floats the hourglass going from large to small, signifying here that no matter how long the cat tries to catch the bird, she never will.

It is such a fun, uplifting little gem.  I've had people try to buy the original off our wall.  Sometimes I hang it in the livingroom, so it's the first picture that greets you when you enter the front door, setting the mood for a pleasant visit.  And sometimes I hang it in the dinning room, so I get to have an extended view of it day after day.  It's a lively little picture that makes me smile.

How many things do you have around your home or work place that make you smile when you look at them?  Would you like to smile more?  Just decide whether you would like to display your little gem under glass or as a canvas.

Miro

The spanish painter, Joan Miro, was inspired by Fauvism, Cubism, folk art, and the writings of the avant-garde poets. This influence was transformed into a unique Surrealistic style, incorporating mythology, dreams, and humor.  He filled his paintings with amoebic and geometric shapes and playful animal forms.
